Don’t let cords and cables take over your life. Discover some easy, practical, and unexpected ways to use cable clip organizers!
Beep… Beep…
I stood in line, the rhythmic chime of the cash register lulling me into a trance.
“Next, please!” The cashier’s voice jarred me back to reality.
“Is plastic ok?” The teen at the end of the lane asked.
“Oh no, I brought my own,” I smiled as I reached down into my purse. Then, I smiled wider as my cheeks flushed beet red.
I’d forgotten them. Again.
We encounter all kinds of little annoyances throughout the day. Phone charging cords that slip off of the desk, forgotten market bags, and tangled jewelry, to name a few. But with the right supplies and a little creativity, many of those problems can be solved.
Not Your Everyday Cable Clip Organizers
Before I go any further, I need to tell you that I received 2 free sets of cable clip organizers from the awesome folks at Blue Key World in exchange for writing an honest review. All ideas and opinions in this post are my own. See my disclosure statement for more info.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, I ALSO need to tell you that as soon as Blue Key World’s team contacted me about their cable clip organizers, my mind was brimming with unique ideas for how to use them.
Before I get to my creative ways to use cable clip organizers, let me give you some background on these little guys.
First, they come in sets of 6. They’re a soft, rubbery texture that’s firm but has some give. As a result, it’s easy to snap cables in and out of them. They also have a strong adhesive backing, so the clips stay firmly in place. It’s nice to know you can count on them to stay put!
Are you ready? Let’s dive into some cool ways to use these neat little cable clip organizers!
How to Use Cable Clip Organizers
As I said before, I came up with so many unique ways to use these cable clip organizers. I narrowed it down to 10, for time’s sake. There are a few expected ways I used them, and lots of unexpected ways, too!
For most of the ideas below, I simply peeled the paper off of the back of the cable clip organizer, and stuck it on the surface. For a few of the projects, I used a glue gun to keep them securely attached for frequent use. I’ll let you know the ones I used a glue gun on below.
Keep Charger Cable On Desk
The best place to start is with the cable clip organizer’s intended use – to keep a charger cord right where you need it.
I work from home for my day job 2 days each week, and my phone charger cord is super short. It always ends up slipping off behind the desk, and I have to fish it out as a result.
However, the cable clip organizer solved that problem for me in less than 10 seconds! I stuck the clip to my desk, and now my phone charger stays put as a result.
Keep Charger Cable on Dash
Another place I’m always losing my charger cable? In my car. It used to slip between the seat and the center console all the time. I put a cable clip organizer in my car below where my phone mounts, and it keeps the cord right where I need it.
When I get out of my car, I pull my phone upward with 1 hand and gently unhook the charger with the other. Then, I leave the charger resting in the cable clip organizer for next time. Super easy!
Hide Cords Behind Tables
Another one of life’s little annoyances? When lamp or appliance cords ruin the look of an otherwise beautiful room.
This table in our lounge area looked unsophisticated with the black lamp cord trailing in plain sight. Because of this, I tried using the cable clip organizers to hide the cord behind the top and leg of the table. It worked!
As a result, this table looks so much more refined than before. The cord is no longer a distraction because it’s neatly hidden along the back of the table. This is a surprisingly effective way to declutter your living room.
Keep Blinds Cords Out of the Way
We have these freakish, long cords on the blinds on our kitchen window. They’re always trailing around the faucet, and sometimes into the sink… gross. I used a cable clip organizer to keep the blinds up and out of the sink area. As a result, they’re still accessible, but no longer in the way.
Hold Cheese or Appetizer Labels
A completely unexpected use for these awesome little cable clip organizers? Use them to hold labels for cheese, dips, or appetizers at parties and family gatherings. Perfect for a wine and cheese party!
I’d recommend using them with double-sided tape, so you can re-use them in the future.
DIY Toothbrush Organizer
Another surprising use for these cable clip organizers is to make a custom toothbrush organizer. Make this project here
I came up with this project out of the blue, and it was super easy to throw together. First, I got a wooden tray and some faux succulents from Hobby Lobby. Next, I hot glued them and the cable clip organizers to the tray. The clips are just flexible enough to pop toothbrushes in and out of!
I love that this is an unexpected way to store our toothbrushes. The succulents also give the bathroom a pop of color! It’s also easy to store toothbrushes out of the reach of toilet plume when they’re not being used.
Hold Dry Erase Marker
Another object that just fits into these cable clip organizers? Skinny dry erase markers! Make this project here
Why not create your own custom dry erase board using a picture frame with glass and some scrapbook paper? Then you can attach a cable clip organizer to keep the dry erase marker within arm’s reach.
DIY Jewelry Organizer
If you’re tired of your favorite jewelry getting twisted and tangled, you might want to check out this DIY jewelry organizer. Make this project here
I picked up this cool photo board with gold accents at Hobby Lobby. Then, I attached 6 cable clip organizers using hot glue. I also added some cardstock for earrings. This is perfect for organizing your favorite pieces on your nightstand or on a shelf in your closet!
Hold Makeup Brushes
You can also use these cable clip organizers to hold slimmer makeup brushes.
Keep them all within arm’s reach on the bathroom wall, or tack them up inside your makeup case to keep them in place when you’re on the go!
Store Reusable Shopping Bag
Okay… remember my beet-red face in the grocery store checkout line at the beginning of this post? Yep, it was because I had forgotten my reusable shopping bag at home… yet again. But, as usual, my cable clip organizers from Blue Key World came in handy.
That’s our hall closet, where I store my purse. And right below is where I now store a reusable shopping bag, hanging on one of those awesome cable clip organizers. I’ll never have to be embarrassed at the store again! Well, not due to forgetting my bag, anyway!
A quick note – I found that the cable clip organizer stuck to the textured surface of the door after I stuck it on and let it sit for 24 hours or so.
